I often see pole dancing touted as a complete full-body workout. Generally speaking, pole is an upper-body and core-centric, strength-based workout. While pole is an amazing form of training, it is also an extreme sport. When you begin training for any sport in earnest, you run a risk of injuring yourself or creating imbalances in your body. This occurs simply by repeating the same or similar movements over and over again.
This class is for the first-time pole dancer. A class specifically for beginners, no shoes required! Tue, Sun. Must be able to do bracket grip spins, climb halfway up, invert preps. Please be a strong Level 1 or get permission from an instructor. Learn motions and conditioning for all climbs and inverts on the pole. Must be able to cleanly invert into outside leg hangs on both sides.
Hahaha… how we laughed! As if anything we do on the pole is basic! In fact, this seemingly simple inversion is one of the most important movement patterns we do on the pole. It requires a high level of strength to execute well. But nothing great ever came easy, right? So, here we are to do just that!
I can still vividly remember my first few lessons at pole classes. My instructor showed us a move or a spin and then asked us to perform it on the other side. The groans that echoed through the studio are still repeated today. It's a common reply to just shrug, give it a quick go and pretend that you just can't do it and move on, repeating the move or spin on the best side and smiling when you nail the move. So, what's the problem? Well, a great example, would be myself. I am right handed.
