Handspring dreams? Let's first look at how you do the butterfly. Why do we want to handspring? Because it represents strength and badassery! But when our only strategy is kicking up, do we really know where we are going? Or what alignment we're looking for at the top? In this video, I offer some insight into a progression I teach. It's all about learning to re-organize a 'butterfly' to be:.
When it comes to most things, people seem to down play their talents. What would you say if someone asked you if you were a good singer, if you have good computer skills or if you were a good driver? A lot of people tend to say that they are okay, rather than saying how good they really are. Apparently men are much better at selling themselves than women. So I wonder if Pole Dancers are good at telling how great they are or whether they tend to down play their talents, male or female. Someone once asked me if I was good at Pole Dancing.
Three delightful women showed up at the meetup. We grabbed drinks and yelled at each other over the music while we still could before the club filled to brimming. And then we danced. Performers of all genders danced above us on platforms around the crowded floor, swinging not just on poles but on pipes suspended from the ceiling.
I started pole dancing in the several months since, it has turned into a healthy obsession I keep returning to every week. This beautiful art form has made me stronger, more confident, and has completely changed my outlook on fitness. I never really realized how difficult pole dancing was and how much of a toll it took on the body until I had a minor accident. A body that can run, jump, skip, and bend into beautiful shapes is a privilege. To keep it going that way, you have to make some sacrifices and lifestyle allowances more on that later. The best gift Pole has given me is my gratitude for my fitness.
